The company began its manufacturing activities in March 1972. INSTALLED CAPACITY The plant operates four electric reduction furnaces, being the two first projected by Elkem and the last two by Mannesmann Demag. The total installed capacity is 97 MVA. The production capacity is 46,000 metric tons per year of high quality silicon metal, which means that LIASA is the largest producer of Silicon Metal in Latin America. Due to the technology and raw material’s purity LIASA’s Silicon Metal meets the requirements for chemical, electronics and primary aluminum alloys markets. After 26 years of activities and worldwide supply, the Silicon Metal produced by LIASA is well known in the international markets as a Standard of High Quality. |
